In a world where everything is connected through online technology, its now easy to work from home. With just a click of your mouse or your mobile phones, delivering your work to your client is effortless. The internet or doing everything online is now our future. So it is but fitting to venture into this emerging world of online freelancing and become a Virtual Assistant freelancer or create a virtual assistant services.
My Life before becoming an online freelancer
I used to work in one of the top 5 nonlife insurance companies in the country for 13 years. It was my first job as a professional. I had met wonderful people along the way, that turn into friends until now. But at some point in my career, working for the same company, I felt restless, bored, aimless and burn out. Getting old made me realized that I had been complacent with my life and that Ive always been keeping things safe, within my comfort zone. The only thing that made me get out of my comfort zone was travel. What they said about traveling is true. It makes you rethink your life and broaden your horizon. It makes me crave for more freedom with my time. I dont want to waste my time anymore getting stuck in traffic for hours going to work. Thats when becoming an online freelancer becomes appealing to me.
My reasons why I want to work as an online freelancer
As an online freelancer, your work time is flexible, you can travel while working, you dont get stuck in traffic, you dont travel for hours to get to work everyday, you dont have expenses for commuting, no expenses for dining out once or twice every week, your time is not restricted as long as you deliver your work on time, no strict rules to follow, no dilemma which clothes to wear for work and the list goes on. These are some of my reasons and for sure there are other reasons as well for others. It is appealing but there are downsides too. You dont have job security or financial stability if your work is only part time. And at times no free short term medical insurance for travel abroad insurance like Philhealth, SSS, bonuses and free life insurance provided by your employer. But as there are risks in everything we do, the pros outweighed the cons.
There are a lot of people nowadays working from home and earning more than what they are usually earning in a regular office job. Ive known some digital nomads or online freelancers doing virtual assistant jobs or social media manager jobs making work from home a success. It maybe is a risk leaving your stable job for freelancing but its worth it if you become successful at it. As they said, if you dont take risks you wont know what you can achieve. So now Im taking this risk.
